PREVIEW: Secret Life Of The Zoo, Channel 4
A new series of the observational documentary series capturing, in incredible detail, the remarkable behaviour of the animals at Chester Zoo, and their relationships with their keepers.
The Malayan tapiers are among the more unusual-looking animals at the zoo: semi aquatic mammals that can weigh a massive 500kg each. Chester's pair, Margery and partner Betong, have a love/hate relationship and tuck away 40kg of food each day. But is Margery eating for two?
Meet Bond, James Bond, the hyacinth macaw, a member of the largest parrot family in the world. These beautiful birds mate for life, but sadly James's beloved partner caught a virus and died and now he's in quarantine.
Natives of Madagascar, but nearly extinct in the wild, the tiny but mighty golden mantella frog family at Chester need a breeding boost. Hopes rest on minuscule male Eddie, who needs to summon up all his stamina to successfully court his frog princess Fergie.
The next episode will be available to stream or download for free on All 4, following transmission of this episode on Tuesday 10 August.
