Great Britain will be looking to get among the medals early on day four in Paris as Alex Yee goes for gold in the men’s triathlon.
Yee had to settle for silver in Tokyo three years ago but won the test event on the Paris course last year and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Alistair Brownlee as Britain’s second Olympic men’s individual triathlon champion.
There will also be rowing and swimming heats, along with hockey action, with Great Britain’s men’s facing a tough pool stage match against the top-seeded Netherlands team. Presented by Jeanette Kwakye and JJ Chalmers.
The first table tennis gold of these Olympics is decided, with the mixed doubles final taking place in Paris. The skills and lightning-fast reflexes of the players are on display as the last two pairs in the competition do battle for gold. Coverage presented by Jeanette Kwakye and JJ Chalmers.
Paris will be full of airborne athletes in this session as gymnastics and BMX freestyle take place in the French capital, and there’s also the fast and frenetic rugby sevens.
Great Britain won their first Olympic women’s team gymnastics medal in almost a century in Tokyo, but it will be a tough task repeating that feat in Paris, where they will be without star performer Jessica Gadirova, who is recovering from a serious knee injury.
It’s the qualifying stage of the exciting men’s BMX freestyle, with British world champion Kieran Reilly aiming to book his place in tomorrow’s final. We’re also getting towards the business end of the women’s rugby sevens, where Great Britain will be hoping to be in the semi-finals for the third games in a row.
Also taking place this afternoon is tennis, boxing and judo, in which British number one Lucy Renshall has medal hopes in the women’s -63kg category. Join Clare Balding and guests as Team GB seek to defend their Olympic title in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay – one of three finals on another bumper night of swimming.
The British men dominated this event in Tokyo, finishing an emphatic 3.23 seconds ahead of the field to take gold. This time, they will face stiff competition from the likes of the USA and Australia, as a gallery of stars line up for one of the best races in the swimming calendar.
There’s also a chance to see French superstar Leon Marchand in semi-final action, while Great Britain’s Anna Hopkin and Freya Anderson will be seeking to reach the 100m freestyle final.
