Jeanette Kwakye and JJ Chalmers are across the morning’s action on day six, where British rowing royalty and mother of three Helen Glover is seeking a third Olympic gold medal.
Cornwall’s Glover has been tipped for success in the women’s four after taking gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016 in the pair with Heather Stanning. She will line up alongside Belfast’s Rebecca Shorten and Olympic debutants Esme Booth and Sam Redgrave in Paris, with the quartet unbeaten heading into these games. The men’s four are another of Team GB’s gold medal hopefuls, and they are the current world and European champions.
Elsewhere, the men’s golf competition gets underway at the Albatros course at Le Golf National, the men’s and women’s skiff events reach their conclusion in the sailing, and Great Britain’s men face hosts France in hockey.
Hazel Irvine presents live coverage as the very best female gymnasts battle it out for individual gold, while a popular Brit is among the medal favourites in the men’s canoe slalom.
The world’s most decorated female gymnast returns to reclaim her crown. American Simone Biles withdrew from the Games three years ago, citing a debilitating spatial awareness condition known as ‘the twisties’. She has since recovered and made a spectacular return to the international stage at last year’s World Championships, collecting four golds.
Team GB’s Joe Clarke is best remembered for his gold in Rio eight years ago, and he returns in the men’s kayak as the reigning world champion. The Stoke City fan has a point to prove after missing out on selection for the Tokyo Games, and he is likely to face stiff competition from Czech paddler Jiri Prskavec.
Elsewhere, the tennis reaches the quarter-final stage on the famous clay courts of Roland Garros, and there are plenty of famous names in action.
A host of swimming’s global stars converge on the pool for another night of world-class action, with four gold medals to be decided in Paris.
The session begins with the women’s 200m butterfly final, where Canada’s 17-year-old sensation Summer McIntosh is expected to take the title. Team GB’s Luke Greenbank will be desperate to reach the podium again in the men’s 200m backstroke after his bronze in Tokyo, while the evening concludes with the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, with Australia, China, the USA and Great Britain all in contention.
Other Brits in action include Ben Proud and Matt Richards, who will be vying to lay down a marker in the men’s 50m freestyle semi-finals, while the men’s 200m medley semis will provide another chance to watch the impressive Duncan Scott and Tom Dean. Presented by Clare Balding.
