UPDATED: AMAZON SAY "NO CHANGES" TO FREEVEE SERVICE

UPDATED

Amazon have stated that there are "no changes" to its Freevee service, following reports from media website Ad Week that the organisation was to close down the streaming platform.

A statement provided to Deadline read: "There are no changes to Freevee. Amazon Freevee remains an important streaming offering providing both Prime and non-Prime customers thousands of hit movies, shows, and originals, all for free."

Amazon are set to close its Freevee service, according to reports from media website Ad Week.

Amazon has so far not commented on the reports, but Freevee programming is expected to migrate to Prime Video. It follows the introduction of adverts to Prime Video programming earlier this month, with an ad-free option available for an additional charge of £2.99 per month.

Amazon explained at the time: "This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time. We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than ad-supported TV channels and other streaming TV providers"

More details will be announced in due course.
