PREVIEW: 24 Hours In A&E (Series 24), Channel 4

Filmed during the autumn of 2020, the RTS award-winning documentary series returns for a 24th series following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George's in south west London.

This episode follows three different patients that teach us that we must continue to learn and adapt from the challenges that life throws at us. Josh, who's 27, is rushed to A&E after being thrown from his motorbike at speed. Doctors are concerned that he has suffered life-changing head and spinal injuries.

As doctors prepare Josh for emergency surgery, his partner, Sandy, reveals the anxiety Josh's motorcycle riding causes her, especially now that she is carrying their unborn child. While tending to Josh, doctor Martyn tells us how valued he has been made to feel by the public response to health professionals in the pandemic and talks about his personal experience of being a patient in the emergency department following a cycling accident.

Georgie has brought in her 10-month-old son Phoenix after she caught him sucking on a bleach tablet. As doctors assess Phoenix for injury Georgie reveals the traumatic experience of her eldest son having been involved in a car accident. Ross, who's 21, is in A&E after dislocating his shoulder at work. While he treats Ross, doctor Rich reflects on how becoming a dad has made him re-evaluate his approach to his home life and also to how he treats patients.

24 Hours In A&E returns Monday 31st May at 9pm on Channel 4.
