THIS IS YOUR LIFE: REBOOT OF CLASSIC FORMAT REPORTEDLY IN DEVELOPMENT

According to The Sun newspaper, a reboot of classic format This Is Your Life is in development, with a number of potential hosts being line-up for the series, though no broadcast has commissioned the series.

This Is Your Life saw one person, usually a celebrity, surprised by the show's host who would tell them they're on the show and would be taken that moment to the studio. Whilst in the studio, the host would guide the celebrity through their life with assistance from the iconic 'big red book' and surprise guests in the studio.

The series began in 1955 on the BBC and was hosted by Eamonn Andrews. During it's run it aired on both BBC and ITV and was later hosted by Michael Aspel and Trevor McDonald for a one-off special in 2007.

A source told The Sun: "There is a reason This Is Your Life aired for so many years - as a format, it is perfect. It’s warm, entertaining and interesting plus is fairly affordable to make, which of course helps...

"Since it last ran properly in 2003 many more celebrities are now worthy of the big, red book treatment. It was always such an honour to appear, bosses are confident a whole new generation of stars will embrace a surprise visit from the team...

"Discussions are underway with a number of potential hosts with a view to getting work underway later this year. Talks are in early stages and discussions ongoing with a number of channels."

Celebrities who were surprised on the original run included Ronnie Barker, Peter Davison, Carol Vorderman, Ross Kemp, Lynda Bellingham, Suggs, Danny Baker, Frank Bruno, Lulu, Chris Tarrant, Roy Walker and Gary Rhodes.

More details will be revealed in due course.
