PREVIEW: Million Pound Pawn, ITV

This new ITV series pulls back the curtain on the world of pawnbroking in the midst of the current economic crisis, telling the story of both the pawnbrokers and the people looking to part with their prized possessions.

With over a million pounds worth of assets passing through Britain’s pawnbrokers hands each day, there’s no way of knowing who will be walking through the pawnbroker’s door next or what their valuables will be.

At one of the oldest pawnbrokers in the country, pawnbroker Ray meets a business owner looking to sell his exclusive Lamborghini for a big-money return. It’s a dream car and potentially a huge pay day for Ray, but only if he can sell it on to make a profit. Can he meet his client's expectations and still seal the deal?

In Sheffield, third generation pawnbroker Dan meets divorcee Fran, who wants to sell a watch she inherited. If it’s genuine, the money it commands could be life-changing for Fran, but with the market in fake watches booming, Dan needs expert advice or he could be massively out of pocket.

Meanwhile, in affluent Cheshire, Kathy, one of just a few female pawnbrokers in the industry, has recently set up a new company. She meets a former 80's pop star hoping to raise money to see him through these tough times. The stakes are high, but his return all depends on whether Kathy thinks his prized valuable can still command a high price.

Million Pound Pawn begins Tuesday 23rd February at 8pm on ITV.
