The brickies are using the money to turn their lives around, from buying houses and flashy cars to supporting their families and developing their own career ambitions.
They have their work cut out however, as they put their skills to the test on sites in Stoke-on-Trent, Northampton and Derbyshire.
Bricklayers of all abilities feature in the series - from apprentices getting to grips with their new world, to experienced bosses whose job it is to keep their teams on track, with deadlines fast approaching.
At the start of the second series, it’s the start of a hot summer, and the brickies are back on the trowel, building affordable houses on a fresh site in Mansfield. Familiar faces and new starters muck-in together as the gangs go deep into the earth to lay the foundations and get this large-scale development off the ground.
Expect laughs, banter and tears as we see friendships and fallouts, relationship struggles and young parents in pressured situations. There’s also plenty of drama as the brickies deal with material shortages and staffing setbacks, as well as the odd prank.
Brickies returns Monday 20th March at 9pm on BBC Three.
