A reboot of dating format Farmer Wants A Wife, which sees rural farmer welcome urban-living woman to their farm in the hope of romance, is reportedly in development at production company Fremantle.

A source told The Sun: "Farmer Wants A Wife was one of telly’s earlier dating shows before the likes of Love Island and Married at First Sight came along and created a whole new genre... But the time is thought to be right to revisit the UK farmers as interest in rural living has never been greater... It’s early days so a channel isn’t yet attached, nor a host, but everyone is very excited."
Meanwhile, ITV have shelved dating format My Mum, Your Dad after two series. The show will not be returning for a third series this year, but ITV hay the door has been left open for series in the future.
Fronted by Davina McCall, the series saw grown-up kids nominate their parents for a second chance of love. Each series saw the grown-up kids return to the surveillance room, dubbed the ‘Bunker’, where they are entrusted with the fate of their single parents as they search for love in the retreat.
Watching along, there were some new twists along the way as they get a front row seat to how their parents fare in their bid to make a romantic connection. And, at the end, they’ll ultimately decide if they give their blessing to any potential matches.
An ITV spokesperson said (via The Sun): "My Mum Your Dad achieved a fantastic audience response across its two series, and the show's boxsets continue to deliver a strong performance on ITVX. There are currently no plans for a new series in 2025 owing to other priorities in our schedule, but we may revisit the show at some point beyond that."
More details will be announced in due course.
