Our picks of what to watch during the week ahead.

PRIDE OF BRITAIN AWARDS

Thursday, ITV1

Pride of Britain Awards returns for its annual celebration. Hosts Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo lead the ceremony honouring the nation’s truly inspirational and awe-inspiring, unsung heroes. Held in association with the Daily Mirror and airing on ITV this autumn, the event will be held at the Grosvenor House in London in front of a star studded audience who will gather to celebrate the achievements of people who have acted remarkably in extraordinary situations.

 IT GETS WORSE

Thursday, Channel 4

Follows Ethan, Abi, and Sam - best friends from uni, soulmates for life, and dysfunctional roommates. It’s been a year since they finally managed to move to London, they have collectively accomplished nothing, and now their landlord is selling up. They’re getting kicked out. What now?

Can they keep their friendships alive when they are dispersed across a city that seems to want them dead? Can they find a six out of ten or higher to have bad sex with? Can they get their shit together when the world is so obviously falling apart? Probably not. But they’re going to have fun trying.

 NORTHUMBRIA MYSTERIES

Friday, BBC One

Set in the glorious Northumberland countryside, at the heart of the show is an unlikely crime-solving duo, ex-con Joe Ruby (Robson Green) and Oxford-educated DI Rose O’Connell (Liz White).

Rose is an intellectual with an ice-cool disposition, Joe meanwhile has been on the wrong side of the law for much of his life but is now trying to make amends and move to the right side. Joe is a volunteer at a local priory, tending to the grounds, seeking forgiveness, and attempting to start a new life, all under the kind but watchful eye of Father David (Simon Callow).

 LAST ONE LAUGHING: HALLOWEEN

Friday, Prime Video

Over the course of the first Halloween Special, the famous faces will use every ounce of their comedic talent to break their opponents without laughing or screaming. And it's not just their rivals they need to watch out for. Cursed props, ghostly interruptions and spine-tingling surprises are all designed to catch even the bravest comic off guard. The rules are simple: laugh and you're out, scream and you're out. Who will survive last One Laughing: Halloween?

 THIS CITY IS OURS

Sunday, BBC One

Picking up from where things were left at the end of series one, Michael and Diana have barely arrived in Spain when they are dragged back into the fold to answer questions around Ricardo’s death. Back in Liverpool, tensions continue to bubble amongst the remaining members of the gang. Meanwhile, an old school gangster from Ronnie's era, recently out of prison, wants compensation from the firm.

 ADULTERY

Sunday, ITV1

Adultery introduces us to Tom’s 15-year-old daughter Jess who has found love with schoolmate Ollie, and they can’t take their hands off one another, as love’s young dream becomes all consuming. When Tom meets Ollie’s mum Beth in the most unexpected of circumstances, the two families’ lives are potentially turned upside down forever. Will Tom and Beth be able to control their desires unlike their lovestruck teenagers?

 MORTIMER & WHITEHOUSE GONE FISHING

Sunday, BBC Two

Paul and Bob travel to the River Ribble in Lancashire for one last fish with their little canine pal, Ted. The beautiful river Ribble runs through the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, onwards to Lancashire before meeting the Irish Sea in Lytham. With the river in good health, Paul and Bob hope to catch a good chub or a mighty barbel on this stretch of the water.
