Lightning aired two series in the 6:30pm teatime slot and saw the traditional quiz show collide with gameshow, in a fast-paced and frantic format designed to leave contestants’ nerves in tatters.
Six challengers battled it out across six adrenaline-pumping rounds while a ruthless spotlight patrols the studio eliminating contestants.
The challengers’ motivation is simple: do whatever it takes to stay out of the light. It's now been confirmed that the series has been axed after two runs.
Zoe Lyons shared online: "Sadly all good quizzes must come to an end but I can't tell you what a joy it has been work on Lightning for BBC Two...
"We made two cracking series and I loved every second of working with my pals at BBC Belfast. Every contestant was a star."
Lightning series one and two are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
