BBC CONFIRM SECOND SERIES OF THE TOURNAMENT WITH ALEX SCOTT

Popular afternoon quiz show The Tournament will return to BBC One Daytime this Autumn.

Hosted by Alex Scott, it’s the ultimate knockout competition, where eight players battle each other on the Tournament Run in a series of exciting tug-of-war quiz matches they attempt to knock their opponents out of the game and steal their cash.

Only one player will make it to the end, when they will have the chance to double their money on the Golden Run.

Alex says: “I'm thrilled to be hosting a second series of the 'The Tournament' for BBC Daytime. I can't wait to welcome players from all over the UK to join me on the Tournament Run, and to see who has what it takes to become champion in TV's ultimate knockout quiz.”

Sarah Lloyd, Managing Director, QITV comments: "We're delighted to be back on BBC Daytime with the brilliant Alex Scott at the helm of 'The Tournament', ensuring that this unique and highly entertaining knockout quiz has all the drama and tension of a penalty shoot-out."

Filmed in Glasgow, The Tournament is made by QITV, the production arm of Quite Interesting Ltd, the company behind BBC Two’s QI, and the Executive Producer is Simon Urwin. Commissioning Editors are Alex McLeod, and Neil McCallum for BBC Daytime.

The Tournament will air on BBC One later this year.
