TODAY AT WIMBLEDON: BBC 'AXES' HIGHLIGHTS SHOW OF TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Today At Wimbledon, the highlights companion programme which airs alongside BBC's coverage of Wimbledon, has reportedly been axed after 60 years.

Today At Wimbledon gave viewers who missed the live coverage all the triumphs, upsets and fightbacks from the world’s greatest tennis tournament every night. Bosses, according to The Times, now feel the daily highlights show is "no longer viable".

This follows years of schedule changes to the programme due to matches over-running, in some cases the programme has been cancelled completely. The BBC is reportedly putting further emphasis on online content and highlights coverage.

Under what is understood to be a wider shake-up of BBC's Wimbledon coverage - which will be outlined by the broadcaster in due course - the only highlights to be shown on television will be if the day's fixtures finish early.
