On this week’s episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, Jonathan is joined by father and daughter duo Danny and Dani Dyer, the star of Grey’s Anatomy and Ferrari, Patrick Dempsey, comedian, actor and the BRIT Awards host Jack Whitehall, plus multi award-winning musician Self Esteem will be chatting and performing in the studio.

Father and daughter duo Danny and Dani Dyer join Jonathan ahead of the launch of their brand-new series The Dyers' Caravan Park as the pair endeavour to restore a caravan park to its former glory. Danny is also set to host new gameshow Nobody’s Fool alongside Emily Atack coming soon to ITV1 and ITVX.
Reflecting on how the series came together, Danny says, “I used to go down the caravan every year - it was my holiday in Canvey Island. I used to love it in the 80s. I’ve said this in interviews and then Sky approached me about, 'Do I want to run a caravan site?’”
Danny speaks about daughter Dani’s husband, Jarrod, and the love he has for him, and references how he is the West Ham captain, “He’s my hero and she f***ing married him - it’s incredible. He’s an incredible man but it’s a bonus, I can’t lie. I was due it really, because he aint her first fella is he?”
Dani adds, “Yeah, you deserved someone like Jarrod. I kissed a few frogs and got my prince.”
The pair then discuss the nerves they felt on Dani’s wedding day and Danny says, “Giving my daughter away is a big thing.” Dani adds, “We were singing children’s nursery rhymes just before walking down the aisle, because I was so scared and getting so emotional. Ms. Rachel saved the day!”
Danny discusses recently wrapping on filming of the second series of Rivals and turns to Dani and says, “I don’t think you’ll be able to watch much of it!” Dani says, “There was a scene on the last series… The love-making, I don’t watch. The last one there wasn’t that much.”
Hinting that his character will have even racier scenes in the upcoming series, Danny says, “I got away with it last time. I don't get away with it this time.” Jonathan quizzes Dani on what it’s like having a father who is referred to as a sex symbol and she says, “I remember when I first started school, everyone used to say it to me. I didn’t really know how to respond to it.”
Danny is then asked about rumours surrounding his potential involvement in the next series of Celebrity Traitors and he replies, “That’s absolute bollocks. I don’t why they’re saying it. If they ask me I’ll do it, but no one’s asked me. I would f***ing declare it. I’m not on it, you’ll see when it comes on.”
Talk soon turns to Dani’s short-lived Strictly Come Dancing experience after her injury. Dani says, “I’d love to do it again. If they rang me, I’d answer the phone. I was devastated. It was hell for me when I hurt my foot, I was so sad.”
Jonathan asks Dani about one of her celebrity fans, Margot Robbie, and Dani says, “When I came off Love Island she said she wanted to play me or something. That was incredible, I still can’t believe it to be honest.”
Danny then interjects and also says, “Eddie Redmayne said he’d rather meet you than win an Oscar or something?”
Jack Whitehall also joins Jonathan ahead of this year’s BRIT Awards, where he returns as host. Teasing what viewers can expect, Jack says, “Personally I’m so excited - Harry Styles back at the BRITs. He's doing a performance of his song Aperture, that's going to be one to look forward to.”
Jack adds, “We’re going to film a sketch. I had to send over a couple of ideas, because I don’t think the first few were appropriate. That’s what I love about Harry, he’s so great and so up for getting involved and having a laugh, and he’s got a really good sense of humour.”
Quizzed by Jonathan on what one of his original sketch ideas were, Jack reveals, “There was one that was me trekking for days trying to find him and he’d been living in a hut and he looked like Hagrid, and then it had me shaving him. I got a hard no from his team.”
Speaking about his upcoming wedding, Jack says, “I’m very excited - it’s going to be great. It’s the first time our families are ever coming together. I’ve met her family, but my family have not met her family. My family, and it will come as no surprise to you, are a bunch of gilet wearing chinless toffs and her family are proper cockney, all West Ham fans, proper salt of the earth. Her uncle Gary makes Danny look like Jacob Rees-Mogg. It’s going to be a mash-up of Downton Abbey and EastEnders.”
Jack then reveals a recent awkward celebrity encounter and says, “I went to the Maldives. I tell quite a lot of jokes about people on shows like the BRITs and I’m always worried I’ll bump into these people. I was on this holiday, and I was in a restaurant with Roxy having a lovely dinner, and Craig David walked into the restaurant. I was like, ‘No, I’ve said so many jokes about him. This is so awkward.' He started walking over towards the table. 'Roxy, head down.’ He was like, ‘Hey Roxy, so good to see you. How are you?’ Roxy had a little chat with him and he didn’t even address me and walked off. She went,‘Oh yeah, me and Craig, we used to hang out back in the day.’”
Jack also reveals how his mother is keen to recreate Chappell Roan’s daring Grammy Awards look at this year’s BRIT Awards. Jack says, “She’s threatening to. I did actually see her the other day. She was over to babysit my daughter and I looked over her shoulder and she was on Amazon and she was scrolling and trying to purchase this see-through breast plate.”
Following the release of his brand-new series Memory of a Killer, Patrick Dempsey speaks to Jonathan who asks him about being crowned ‘sexiest man alive’ by People Magazine. Patrick says, “It was quite a shock at my age to be nominated and to get it.”
While discussing his children and their thoughts on his professional career, Patrick says, “They’re very direct with their opinions. I didn’t really expose them to the show [Grey’s Anatomy]. I kept them as far away as possible.”
Asked by Jonathan how he felt about leaving his role in Grey’s Anatomy, Patrick says, “It was time to walk away. I had the opportunity to do a full season in the WEC which is the World Endurance Championship. That was my love. For me, it’s [Grey’s Anatomy] been a blessing. It’s given me a wonderful platform. I think the best thing that has come out of it is that a lot of young people have gone into the medical profession because of it - I think that’s a great thing.”
Recounting one of the strangest moments he has been recognised, Patrick says, “There was a gentleman when I was in the bathroom who said something to me - I was quite shocked. He said, ‘Do you mind if I take a picture for my wife?’ and I said, ‘Not right now, but thank you.’ That was probably one of the weirdest times.”
Asked by Jonathan about his charity work, Patrick says, “The Dempsey Centre was inspired by my own mother’s cancer journey - she had ovarian cancer over twelve recurrences. We don’t treat the disease, we treat the person holistically and the visibility of the show [Grey’s Anatomy] helped me do that. There is also a wonderful place, Maggies, here in London and around the country that I believe does similar work. Certainly it’s been in the news a lot, last week with The King talking about it and Princess Kate as well. You come out of surgery and your treatment, you may be cured but you're not healed and that’s where we come in.”
Touching upon his love of racing and the difference between the craft of acting, Patrick says, “You know if you’re fast. The time doesn’t lie. Acting is so subjective. It’s the process of doing a scene that is the most enjoyable - the end result you’re always picking apart. There is only going to be one winner and I think that’s what’s satisfying - it’s the competition.”
Jonathan asks whether he has now stopped racing, Patrick replies, “I have because of the show. I did a few races last year. Unfortunately when I started Memory of a Killer they were like, you’re not racing. Grey’s Anatomy would let me race constantly.”
On what genre he would like to explore, Patrick reveals, “I haven’t done a Western. I think it would be fun to do Western, but I can’t ride a horse.” Self Esteem (Rebecca Lucy Taylor) also joined Jonathan in the studio ahead of her West End stint as Maggie Frisby, in the revival of David Hare's Teeth 'n' Smiles and this year’s BRIT Awards, where she is nominated for Artist of the Year.
Asked by Jonathan about the origins of her stage name, Self Esteem replies, “Because I am pretentious. I wanted to have an artist’s name, like a band name but it was a solo project. I had two ideas - one was sex appeal and one was self esteem. Band names are bad, if the band becomes good then it’s a good band name.”
Self Esteem also speaks about superstar Madonna and says, “Madonna came to my gig - that was good. It was amazing. You go on your deep dives and I got very into her, and it was a big catalyst as to why I left the band I was in and why I went solo.”
Self Esteem then reveals how excited she is to meet the Dyers and says to Dani, “I’m a big Island head! I love Love Island.” and turns to Jack referencing her BRIT Award nomination and jokes, “I’ll be a big fan of your work when you announce me as the winner.”
Speaking about her song ‘Focus is Power’ which featured heavily during the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final, Self Esteem says, “My last album, I wanted to make montage music. The Lionesses won and it was very exciting because I don’t know if you can tell, but I'm passionate about women doing things. My song played and it truly was the most exciting moment. I wrote a poem before the final and they filmed me talking about it. But I’ve never met a Lioness and not one of them has followed me back, so I’m a bit worried they’re like, ‘Why is this woman here again?’ I do keep getting unofficially attached to them.”
Ahead of The BRIT Awards next weekend, Self Esteem recounts the last time she was nominated and also looks forward to this year’s ceremony and says, “I was Best Newcomer then. It felt like it was my wedding day. I had this outfit on and Molly from The Saturdays went down the red carpet and the red carpet went ‘woah’ and I only had a few songs out, I went down and it was deadly silent. Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker was behind me and it went ‘woah’. Just getting there is lovely to achieve - we are going to go and celebrate. It’s daft that I was a kid watching it and it’s an honour to be invited.”
At the end of the show, Self Esteem performs live.
The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday nights on ITV1 and ITVX.
