SKY REVEALS JULY PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
Sky have revealed their slate of programming highlights coming to their portfolio of channels during July 2024.
Mr Bigstuff
Carpet salesman Glen (Brassic star Ryan Sampson, his first time writing and starring in a role) and his fiancée Kirsty (Harriet Webb) share a perfect, perfectly mundane life together. Sure, he’s got crippling erectile dysfunction and she has a secret shoplifting habit, but they’re happy.
That is until Glen’s alpha male brother Lee (Danny Dyer) comes crashing into their lives on the run from his past and clutching onto a biscuit tin full of their father’s ashes.
Battle of the Bagpipes
This three-part documentary series will lift the lid on piping traditions and its star players as they compete for the ultimate prize. Viewers will uncover the fiercely competitive audition process for the Lone Piper at the Royal Military Tattoo and follow new recruits taking part in their first competition in the hope to be selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform for the King. Meanwhile, long-time rivals go head-to-head at the fiercest competition in the piping world: Glasgow’s World Pipe Band Championships.
Ibiza Narcos
Ibiza Narcos tells the story of how a sleepy Mediterranean Island was transformed into one the world’s most vibrant party capitals, fuelled by a dangerous and lucrative drugs trade which drew as many criminals to its shores as it did party animals.
Sky Comedy Specials
Bring on the laughs this July with a season of summer stand up on Sky Comedy, including the UK premiere of the record breaking HBO special Nikki Glaser: Someday You'll Die, where Nikki explains why she doesn't want kids, the harsh realities of aging, her sexual fantasies, and plans for her death - all in her hilarious, unapologetic, and brutally honest style.
Art Matters
A passionate manifesto for placing the arts at the centre of British life, this feature-length film will see Lord Melvyn Bragg and special guests explore the power of the arts to enrich our lives, strengthen our communities and our democracy, supercharge the economy and shape the future. Melvyn will also reflect on his own life experiences and transformative artistic encounters, and he’ll make the case for why the next generation deserve greater opportunities for self-expression and social mobility.
