Breakaway was a general knowledge quiz show hosted by Nick Hancock and aired on BBC Two in early and late 2012.

Breakaway first aired its first series, comprising of 20 episodes, in March 2012. Soon after, it was recommissioned for a second series, also comprising of 20 episodes, which would air from November the same year.

In each episode, six contestants would compete for a grand prize of up to £10,000. Players would have the chance to walk away with a smaller amount if they 'break away' from the group during play.

The game is played on two parallel paths across the studio, each path having 30 steps and wide enough to accommodate all six contestants.
