Dream Car Fixers | Series 2 Preview (U&Yesterday)
Sheldon and Peter are back to make the motoring dreams of fellow classic car enthusiasts come true. Working to their clients’ budgets, Sheldon hunts down affordable vehicles, before restoring them to their former mechanical glory, whilst bodywork expert Peter ensures they look factory fresh.

With fans of classic cars prepared to pay premium prices for the right motor, there’s money to be made but only if they buy the right cars and don’t discover any nasty surprises once they’re back in the workshop.
Sheldon and Peter have 80 years of motoring expertise between them and back themselves to find the solution to almost any problem - and when you get to work with classic cars for a living, it’s worth the risk. Margins are always tight, fixes are never straightforward but there’s no better feeling than making their customers happy.
Sheldon and Peter are faced with a genuine motoring conundrum. Client Steve is desperate to recreate his first ever car – a Ford Anglia 105e with a 1.5-litre engine. The trouble is, Anglias only came with a 1-litre or 1.3-litre engine, meaning Sheldon must source not only a car but also a replacement power plant. Finding an entirely new engine for a 1966 Anglia is no mean feat, let alone fitting one, so Sheldon needs to tap into the Anglia community for help.
It’s no picnic for Peter either. With rusting bodywork and no replacement panels available, he’s forced to fabricate a new front valance from scratch. To do so, he enlists the help of long time friend and master engineer Will Trickett who arrives with an arsenal of traditional equipment, to fix a problem the old school way.
Sheldon and Peter face one of their biggest jobs to date. Triumph enthusiast David already has several Brit classics but desperately wants a Dolomite Sprint to complete his collection.
David is willing to stump up the cash for his dream car, but in return he expects the best and wants a fully restored mint condition motor.Sheldon thinks he may have found a Dolomite with potential, but back at the workshop Peter quickly points out it’ll need a full respray.
To make matters worse, a whining, leaking differential and faulty shock absorbers mean there’s a tonne of mechanical work to be done as well. The interior needs a total refurb to boot, so the chaps have their work cut out if they are to deliver a car that meets David’s expectations without breaking the bank.
Sheldon and Peter are tasked with helping client Brian realise a motoring dream some fifty years in the making. That dream comes in the form of a Ford Capri Mark 1.
With roadworthy Mark 1’s thin on the ground, Sheldon takes a punt on a lead in Dartford when he sees an affordable 1969 model for sale.Back at the workshop, Sheldon takes on the challenging task of bringing the Capri’s performance into the twenty-first century, but fitting new carburettors proves more problematic than he could have imagined.
Meanwhile Peter calls on all his skills and judgement to straighten out some unsightly panel gaps. As former Ford trainees, it’s a trip down memory lane for Sheldon and Peter, but with money on the line, they can’t let nostalgia cloud their judgement.
Dream Car Fixers begins w/c 17th February on U&Yesterday.
