AFTER THE FLOOD ENDS AFTER TWO SERIES ON ITV, DRAMA WILL NOT RETURN FOR A THIRD RUN

After The Flood will not be returning for a third series on ITV.

After the Flood was a mystery thriller set in a town hit by a devastating flood. When an unidentified man is found dead in a lift in an underground car park police assume he became trapped as the waters rose, and as the investigation unfolds PC Joanna Marshall, played by Sophie Rundle, becomes obsessed with discovering what happened to him.

Sophie Rundle (Gentleman Jack, Peaky Blinders) played police officer Joanna Marshall, Philip Glenister (Belgravia, Life on Mars) took the role of property developer Jack Radcliffe and Lorraine Ashbourne (Sherwood, Bridgerton, I Hate Susie) played Jo’s mother, Molly. 

An ITV spokesperson told TV Zone: "We’re very proud of After The Flood and what the drama achieved across two series.  Commissioning decisions involve many factors and while there are no plans for a third series, we're very grateful to everyone who supported the drama. We'd like to extend our thanks to Mick Ford, Azhur Saleem, the actors and the team at Quay Street Productions for producing two brilliant series."

The second series saw newly promoted detective Jo Marshall on the trail of a baffling murder investigation. As tensions simmer in Waterside amid the rising threat of moorland fires and the subsequent risk of further flooding, a body is discovered in bizarre circumstances.

Jo's race to stop the killer will put her in opposition to dark, influential forces within the town, and ultimately take her on a much more personal investigation. One that will require her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has blighted the town's police force - and her own family - for decades.
