Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out | Preview (Channel 5)

Susan and her campervan Helen Mirren are hitting the road again on the hunt for more wonderful Grand Days Out.

First up, she is heading to the fabulous Yorkshire Valleys. Susan loves the county and knows it always has treats in store. It’s a great spot to start her next adventure. Here, she visits some of the most beautiful parts of the county, including the famed York Minster, where she hears about how the people of Yorkshire saved the stunning stained glass during the Second World War.

She is even allowed a behind the scenes peek in the restoration studio - where, as she soon discovers, it’s best to look but not touch. As the striking Newby Hall Susan discovers a Teddy Bear Museum where she meets iconic bears like Sooty and Paddington- and one that’s particularly close to her heart, her childhood hero, Fozzie Bear, who inspired young Susan to become a comedian.

Outside, there’s a joyful trip on a miniature steam train- and then she discovers one of the UK’s fastest growing sports when she takes a swing at Footgolf. She’s delighted to find time to visit the famous Bettys tea rooms- and she gets a chance to be close to nature at the ancient Thorp Perrow Arboretum.

Yorkshire is always full of surprises- but finding herself barefoot and blindfolded in a forest is a new one on her… It all amounts to another fabulous Grand Day Out.
