The BBC has released a first-look picture of Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Industry) as Charles Shelby in the next generation of Peaky Blinders, written and created by Steven Knight. Produced by Banijay UK companies Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders series 1-6, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man) for the BBC in the UK and Netflix in the rest of the world, Peaky Blinders is currently being filmed in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.

Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality. He hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke – played by Jamie Bell (All of Us Strangers, Rocketman) – in years. Charles severed all ties to the Peaky Blinders gang, and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can you ever escape your own blood?
In this new era of Peaky Blinders, set a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy.
Also starring in Peaky Blinders are Jessica Brown Findlay (Silo, The Flatshare), Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal, No Time to Die), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic) in her TV debut. Details of these roles will be shared at a later date.
The two new series, both 6 x 60, will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK and on Netflix across the rest of the world.
Production is supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and Peaky Blinders is the first commission following the new BBC partnership agreement with the WMCA and Create Central to expand BBC and partner production investment in the West Midlands.
In the years since the original series launched on the BBC in 2013, Peaky Blinders has become a global phenomenon, winning fans across the world and countless awards, including the 2018 BAFTA for Best Drama Series. Feature film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, launched on Netflix and was the streamer’s number one film globally for two weeks running since its launch.
