BLUE PETER ANNOUNCES LEO OLSSON AS NEW PRESENTER
Blue Peter has announced that filmmaker and adventurer Leo Olsson is joining the programme as its 45th presenter, as the world’s longest running children’s TV show celebrates a hugely successful first year following its relaunch.

Known for his curiosity, creativity and spirit of adventure, Leo has built a loyal online following by encouraging young people to step outside their comfort zones, learn new skills and embrace new experiences.
As filmmaker and content creator, Leo is best known for documenting ambitious personal challenges through his hugely popular "world's longest bucket list" project. From learning to play the piano and building a surfboard from scratch to taking on extraordinary experiences around the world, his films encourage audiences to discover what they are capable of achieving.
His uplifting and authentic storytelling has attracted more than 13 million likes and over 454,000 followers across social media platforms. In his first Blue Peter appearance, which will be broadcast on CBBC on Friday 20 November, Leo will earn his Blue Peter badge by joining a formation skydive being awarded his badge 4,000ft in the air.

Leo Olsson said: "Blue Peter has always stood for adventure and not being afraid to try new things, which are values I try to bring to everything I create. Growing up I was inspired by people I watched online and on television and I want to do the same, I want to let kids know that you can go out and do whatever you want to do, take on a challenge, big or small! It's such an honour to join a programme with such an incredible legacy, and I can't wait to meet the audience, take on new challenges and create some unforgettable adventures together.”
Sarah Muller, BBC Senior Head of Children’s Commissioning +7, said: "Leo is a natural storyteller whose creativity, positivity and sense of adventure make him a perfect fit for Blue Peter. His determination, passion for adventure and inspiring others reflects everything the programme stands for, and we're excited to welcome him to the team."
Leo joins Blue Peter as the iconic programme celebrates a successful first year following its relaunch and move to a new studio in Manchester in September 2025.
The relaunched format reflects the way children consume content today while staying true to Blue Peter's core values of creativity, adventure and participation.
Since September 2025, it has driven significant growth across BBC iPlayer and digital platforms. The Blue Peter YouTube channel has attracted more than 21.1 million views, a 182% increase year-on-year, and grown its subscriber base by 200% to over 100,000 subscribers. The programme has also generated more than 6.8 million streams on BBC iPlayer.
Audience participation continues to be central to the Blue Peter experience. Today, more than 340,000 children aged 5 to 15 hold at least one Blue Peter badge, while the website attracts over 2 million visits annually.
