REPORTS: TOTAL WIPEOUT FORMAT TO BE RELAUNCHED WITH NUDITY TWIST

New reports from The Sun newspaper claim Total Wipeout is returning to screens... only this time all the contestants will be... naked.

It's unclear whether the format is a direct revival of Total Wipeout or a new gameshow with a similar format. This new series is reportedly being developed by Fremantle's Talkback Thames label. A spokesperson declined to comment when approached.

Rumours began with a suggestion on Bother's Bar website that Channel 5 were 'interested' in the reboot. TV Zone reached out to Channel 5 who said they had no plans for the series.

A source told The Sun: "Total Wipeout was one of the unsung heroes of British telly, even though it had a huge following when it was on our screens. Producers are keen to tap into that again... Other shows have seen people keen to strip off on screen, so they’re not worried about getting contestants."

Total Wipeout was first broadcast on BBC One in 2009 and ran until 2012 and saw contestants battle it out on the iconic Big Red Balls, the no holds barred Sucker Punch and the shin-shattering Sweeper, for the chance to win £10,000.

More details will be revealed in due course.
