WHAT'S IN THE BOX: GAMESHOW SET TO BE AXED BY NETFLIX AFTER ONE SERIES
Netflix have seemingly axed gameshow What's In The Box after one series. The streamer declined to comment when approached by TV Zone.
The studio format was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and sees giant boxes concealing "astonishing prizes, wild surprises and unexpected reveals". Over six episodes, host Neil Patrick Harris led pairs of contestants through rounds of fast-paced trivia as they race to guess what’s inside each box. But unpacking the prize is only the beginning.
As the high-stakes game unfolds, competitors’ smarts, strategy, and stamina will be tested. Shifting alliances and unexpected twists mean only those with sharp instincts - and a little luck - will hold onto their winnings and claim victory.
Meanwhile, Netflix have announced a new comedy entertainment format from production company Zeppotron (part of Banijay UK), fronted by comedians Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade.
The pair will lead an all-star line-up of celebrities in the show, set inside a mysterious institution with challenges that appear to make no sense. Their only guide is the room itself, which glows red when they’re getting warmer and blue when they’re getting colder.
The challenges range from the simple to the completely absurd and totally hilarious as the pairs race through room after room to be crowned Hot Or Cold champions. It’s the classic childhood game now played by adults who really should know better.
Bob Mortimer said: “Spending time with Richard Ayoade is one of my all-time favourite things to do. Closely followed by playing Hot or Cold, so this has worked out brilliantly.”
Richard Ayoade said: “Although I prefer mild temperatures, it’s been instructive to participate in something as binary as this.”
Chris Cohen, executive producer, Zeppotron said: I’ve spent my entire career in telly walking into rooms and having no idea what’s going on, so it’s a delight to work with Netflix and finally make a show with that exact premise. We are thrilled to have two of Britain’s best in Bob and Richard at the heart of it all.”
What's In The Box is available now on Netflix.
