RATINGS REPORT: 29 DECEMBER-04 JANUARY 2026, MOST WATCHED SHOWS REVEALED

The latest 7-day consolidated ratings for programmes shown or released for the last week have been released by BARB. The top-50 breakdown can be found on BARB's website here.



The Traitors dominated the New Year, with the fourth series launching with 11,853,100 on New Year's Day before continuing with 11,042,100 and 11,203,700 respectively. The New Year's Eve fireworks were watched b 10,926,600 on BBC One, proceeded by Ronan Keating's New Year's Part with 4,486,300.



Both BBC One and ITV launched the second series of their respective dramas The Night Manager and Red Eye. The former, which returned for the first time in nine years, was watched 6,290,500 for its first episode and 5,288,100 for its second episode. BARB reports Red Eye launched with 3,889,200, though TV Zone understands this to be higher.


ITV launched their new weekend entertainment line-up, with The Masked Singer opening with a double bill to 3,391,600 and 3,176,800. On Sunday night, the broadcaster launched new gameshow The Floor, hosted by Rob Brydon, to 3,081,800. The Celebrity Apprentice returned for a two-part festive special watched by 4,070,500 and 3,522,800 respectively.



Elsewhere, the Stranger Things finale landed on Netflix to 5,467,000 whilst new Harlan Coben drama Run Away debuted with 3,059,000. A new series of Would I Lie To You launched with 3,702,200 on BBC One, which was followed by Amanda & Alan's Greek Hob to 3,408,300.


3,095,400 watched the New Year special of The Great British Bake Off, whilst The Great Pottery Throwdown returned to 3,018,100.
