Walter Presents - which showcases the best foreign language drama series from around the world - continues with this powerful Polish crime drama set in Warsaw in 1937. On May Day, a Jewish mafia-organised socialist rally comes into violent conflict with the members of an anti-Jewish fascist rally in the middle of Warsaw.

The attending police take into custody Buddy Kaplica, the head of the mafia. Jakub Szapiro, a boxer and close associate of Buddy, calls in favours from the Prime Minister, and Kaplica strolls free. Jakub is in training for a big fight, but what he wants more than winning in the ring is to take over from Kaplica, and Kaplica tempts him with that bait.

The fascists also want control of the city and are prepared to fight for it. Precarious balancing acts between the law and the various factions as well as between the gangs are under threat of brutally toppling...
