The City Watch’s cranky Captain Sam Vimes faces Death when a former friend reappears after 20 years, unchanged and vengeful.

Add an over-eager new recruit, a disruptive aristocrat and a stolen library book to the mix, and matters get complicated. An askew view of the people policing a city’s mean but magic-strewn streets, inspired by Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld.

Control of a destructive dragon is key to Carcer Dun’s plan, but learning how lies within the Unseen University, where our surviving heroes happen to be meeting with the shifty Archchancellor.
