George Clarke's Old House New Home | Series Preview (Channel 4)

George Clarke returns with a brand-new series, as he helps more people make their period homes fit for modern life.

In this first episode, George meets Duncan and Josie, who are taking on an 18th-century barn perched on the edge of a pretty green, containing some very dodgy décor including a purple stripped 80s kitchen, and in a first for George, a miniature kitchen extension built to house a washing machine.

Duncan and Josie need to make it liveable very quickly after Josie's waters broke while stripping wallpaper. Can George make the dark, cramped layout work for modern family living with new baby Ruby?

George also takes on a Victorian gothic pile in the seaside resort of Southport. Jenny, a lawyer, and Fadi, a local bar owner, walked past the nine-bedroom house every day and fell in love with its fairy-tale turret, mullion-stained glass windows and castellations.

They begged the owner to let them know if he ever wanted to sell and, five years later, he gave them a call. It's a massive undertaking, but can George help them restore it to its former glory?

The next episode will be available as a first look on All 4 after the transmission of this one on Thursday 11th August.
