Boat Story | Preview (BBC One)

BBC One presents brand new six-part thriller Boat Story, starring Daisy Haggard (Back to Life, Breeders) and Paterson Joseph (Vigil, Noughts & Crosses).

Alongside them are Tchéky Karyo (Baptiste, The Missing), Joanna Scanlan (After Love, Notes on A Scandal), Craig Fairbrass (One Piece, Villain and Muscle) and Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, House of the Dragon).

Written by Harry and Jack Williams, the new series is produced by award-winning All3Media production company, Two Brothers Pictures in association with all All3Media International. The series will be on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and on Amazon Freevee in the US and Germany.

The series feature leads Janet (Daisy Haggard) and Samuel (Paterson Joseph) as they clutch on to a haul of illegal drugs found on a shipwrecked boat. The pair can’t believe their luck as they agree to sell it and split the cash. But on their tail is a sharp suited gangster known as ‘The Tailor’ (Tchéky Karyo).

At its heart, Boat Story is an action-thriller about two ordinary people whom the world has turned its back on, and whether they’re willing - or desperate enough - to do something crazy to get what they want in life. Pushed to the very edge, can they trust each other and get away with their lives and the money?

Boat Story embodies twists and turns with character-driven, surprising storytelling. Off-beat humour contrasts with high-octane action sequences against the spectacular backdrop of the beautiful, windswept Yorkshire coastline.

Christopher Aird, Two Brothers Pictures Head of Drama, says: “Boat Story will surprise the audience from the first minute. Harry & Jack are challenging conventions we've come to second guess in screen drama. I think this is their boldest show yet and very exciting.”

Tommy Bulfin, BBC Commissioning Editor, says: “Even by Jack and Harry’s remarkable standards, Boat Story is a hugely entertaining and fiendishly clever thriller that I know will have the nation desperate to know what’s coming next. And I cannot think of a more perfect cast to bring these fantastic characters to life – you’ll just have to wait and see which ones you can trust!”

Boat Story begins Sunday 19th November at 9pm on BBC One.
