PICKS OF THE MONTH: MAY 2023

What to watch this month.

The Coronation

On the day, Kirsty Young will be in a studio at Buckingham Palace and JJ Chalmers will speak to members of the military as they prepare for one of the largest parades in living history. Huw Edwards will provide commentary as the doors of Westminster Abbey open and Sophie Raworth will be outside speaking to guests as they arrive.

Eurovision Song Contest

For the first time since 1998, the United Kingdom will play host to the 2023 contest and will do so on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine who are unable to host due to the ongoing war. This year marks the 67th edition of the competition as 37 countries compete for the coveted, life changing trophy.

Ten Pound Poms

The six-part series follows a group of Brits as they leave dreary post-war Britain in 1956 to embark on a life-altering adventure on the other side of the world. For only a tenner, they have been promised a better house, better job prospects and a better quality of life by the sea in sun-soaked Australia.

Steeltown Murders

Set in both 1973 and the early 2000s, Steeltown Murders centres on the hunt to catch the killer of three young women in the Port Talbot area and the remarkable story of how - in the first case of its kind - the mystery was solved almost 30 years later using pioneering DNA evidence.

I Kissed A Boy

Fly in pop icon Dannii Minogue to play Cupid, and it’s the party you do not want to miss. 10 single guys are matched up, and meet for the first time… with a kiss. No small talk. No messages. Just one kiss to test out their chemistry straight away. Will it be a polite peck? Or a passionate snog? And ultimately, will that first kiss lead to love?

Picture Slam

Picture Slam, hosted by Alan Carr, will see three teams face a series of pictures and each picture is worth cash. The more they can name the more they win, but for the big money they need to name them ALL, and if they do that, they’ve got a Picture Slam!

Without Sin

In this four-part drama, Vicky McClure (Line of Duty, This is England, Broadchurch, Trigger Point) plays the role of grieving mother, Stella Tomlinson, whose 14-year-old daughter Maisy, is found dead at their family home with the bloodied, hooded figure of Charles Stone (Johnny Harris - The Salisbury Poisonings, Medici, Troy: Fall of a City) standing over her.

Maryland

The series focuses on the relationship between two sisters, down-to-earth mother of two Becca (Jones) and disciplined high-flyer Rosaline (Best) who have been driven apart by complex family dynamics. But when the body of an older woman is discovered at sunrise on Laxey Beach in the Isle of Man, it brings devastating news for the sisters.

Britain's Got Talent

Brand new judge Bruno Tonioli joins the panel alongside fan-favourites Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon. Once again, the incomparable duo Ant and Dec will be hosting, both on stage and from the wings as they get ready to cheer and console the acts brave enough to perform in front of thousands.

The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan

Comedy superstar Mo will be joined in the studio by a dazzling array of famous faces, as well as his trusty house band The Compozers. Across the series, there'll be more iconic Nursery Grimes, unmissable musical performances and one-of-a-kind games where lucky audience members could get their hands on some incredible prizes.

Open House: The Great Sex Experiment

Committed couples come to a luxury retreat to explore whether having open relationships and sex with other people can strengthen their bond.
