JEREMY VINE GETS EXTENDED RUNNING TIME AND NEW PRESENTERS
The Jeremy Vine show is to get three new presenters while co-host Storm Huntley takes a break to have a baby.
Hosts Jeremy Vine and Storm made the announcement that former newspaper editor Dawn Neesom and TV hosts Alexis Conran and Michelle Ackerley will all stand in for Storm, covering up to four weeks each.
Dawn will present Jeremy Vine Extra for four weeks from Monday 11th July, while Alexis will present for four weeks in August and Michelle for three weeks in September.
At the same time, it was announced that the ITN Productions’ daily topical daytime show (Channel 5, weekdays, 9.15am) is getting even bigger.
The show’s extension, Jeremy Vine Extra, has been commissioned until the end of the year - and from August 1st it will be extended by another half an hour for 13 weeks and will be on air from 11.15am to 12.45pm.
The extended Extra will give viewers even more time to have their say on the day’s big talking points and give them the chance to ask the experts about the issues which are happening in their lives. It will also include a news update from 5 News.
Jeremy Vine will start the show by himself with the extra presenter joining later and then taking over from Jeremy at 11.15am for Jeremy Vine Extra.
The Jeremy Vine show has seen an impressive 20% increase in share for Channel 5 across its hour-long slot from May 2021 to May 2022 and has boosted reach to the show by 25%.
Storm said: “I am about to embark on a huge adventure of my own which I couldn’t be more excited about. It’s only made better knowing that Extra is getting bigger and better in my absence too. I’m going to miss Jeremy and the whole team while I’m off but I know I’m leaving the show in the most capable hands.”
Ian Jones, Editor of Jeremy Vine and Jeremy Vine Extra said: “Everyone here is delighted for Storm and wishing her all the best. While she takes a break from the show, I can’t think of a better set of hands to leave it with than these three talented presenters...
"I know they’ll be popular with viewers and be excellent caretakers for the show Jeremy and Storm have built.”
Jeremy Vine continues weekdays at 9:15am on Channel 5.
