QUEEN OF THE NIGHT: ITV 'TO ANNOUNCE NEW CELEBRITY DRAG QUEEN COMPETITION'

ITV have reportedly commissioned a new entertainment series, Queen Of The Night, according to reports from The Sun.

The series - which is yet to be announced by ITV - will see celebrities given a drag makeover and perform to a panel of judges and studio audience who will vote for their favourite act to win the show.

Each celebrity will be paired with their own drag mentor as they attempt to master the uniquely difficult craft of drag. They will also have to hone one drag discipline, whether that's singing, dancing, lip syncing, impressions comedy or dragic (drag magic).

A source told The Sun: "It's set to be one of the funniest shows this year. Producers can't wait to see the acts perform. Everybody is staying tight lipped about the judges and contestants but some of those being considered would leave jaws hanging."

The show will air later this year as a one-off primetime special.

The reported commission follows Ant & Dec's drag makeover of the opening episode of the latest series of Saturday Night Takeaway, and the success of RuPaul's Drag Race UK on BBC Three.

Elsewhere on ITV, RuPaul is to host Celebrity Lingo, a primetime spin-off to the daytime quiz hosted by Adil Ray. More details on that can be found here.
