INSIDE THE FACTORY: PADDY McGUINNESS 'SET TO REPLACE' GREGG WALLACE AS PRESENTER OF BBC SERIES

Paddy McGuiness is reportedly set to become the new main presenter of BBC Two factual series Inside The Factory, replacing Gregg Wallace who stepped down from the series earlier this year.

Broadcast reports the Top Gear and Question Of Sport host is the 'primary candidate' for the hosting gig. The series goes inside factory floors across Britain for a snoop around their supersized production lines in an attempt to uncover the secrets behind our supermarket staples.

Gregg Wallace announced he is to step back from presenting the hit BBC Two after seven series to focus on family life with his young autistic son. Wallace has fronted the format alongside presenter Cherry Healey since 2015.

Gregg Wallace, speaking to BBC Radio London, said: "I’ve made a decision that I’m actually not going to do Inside The Factory any more. It’s a good time to stop doing it because there’s actually 12 episodes in the can, so I wouldn’t have been filming for a while anyway."

Wallace explained: "You’ve got a little boy who’s cuddly and happy and naughty, like any little boy would be, but he can’t speak, he can’t talk to you, so he gets frustrated because he finds it difficult to tell you what exactly it is he needs. Right now, we need to find education for him and I can’t just leave that to Anna – that’s a big, big decision."

Inside The Factory airs on BBC Two and iPlayer. Wallace's replacement is yet to be confirmed by the BBC.
