All lead cast members will also be returning for Season 2, including Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood and Jenny Walser.

And there are some new faces joining the gang. Leila Khan will star as Higgs student Sahar Zahid, Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother David Nelson, Nima Taleghani as Truham teacher Mr. Farouk, and Bradley Riches (who played a student in Season 1) will return as Truham student James McEwan.

Based on Alice Oseman’s best-selling graphic novels of the same name, Heartstopper follows Nick and Charlie’s high school friendship as it blossoms into something more. The second series lands 3rd August on Netflix.

Executive producer Patrick Walters said: "We put so much love into the making of Heartstopper so to reassemble the team for two more seasons is a dream come true. I’m forever grateful to Alice Oseman for entrusting us with this beautiful, unique story that at its core seeks to uplift the next generation of young LGBTQ+ people. Stay tuned!"

In Season 1, which covers the first two volumes of the graphic novel, viewers watch as Nick and Charlie’s friendship blossoms into the most wholesome relationship, as they make snow angels and kiss in the rain.

Viewers are introduced to their friends Elle (Yasmin Finney) and Tao (William Gao), as well as school lesbian icons Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell).

Heartstopper Series 1 is available on Netflix now.
