EXCLUSIVE

Channel 4 have not recommissioned celebrity competition format The Great Snowman for 2023, TV Zone understands.

Channel 4 did not respond to TV Zone's request for comment, though understands the broadcaster does not rule out returning to the format in the future. Channel 4's Christmas highlights for 2023 can be found here.

Two one-off specials aired in 2021 and 2022. They were hosted by Sue Perkins as a group of celebrities travelled to a snowy mountain top to have their creativity challenge with a snow building competition.

Supported by a crew of seasoned sculptors, engineers, and snow builders these stars had to design and create some of the most extraordinary snow creations ever seen on TV. The creations were judged on form and artistry by Swedish sculpting sisters Sara and Emilie Steele and renowned British artist and sculptor Taslim Martin.

The first special averaged 1.8m when it aired on Channel 4 during Christmas 2021, with it becoming the youngest skewing programme in primetime across public service broadcasters in 2021.

Channel 4 are continuing its relationship with production company South Shore with upcoming gameshow Double The Money, also hosted by Perkins, as well as the return of Aldi's Next Big Thing and Worst House On The Street.
