In the ultimate TV road trip, this year’s celebrities follow in the footsteps of Ant & Dec, Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp, Amanda Holden and Alan Carr and Martin and Roman Kemp.

Delving into their family histories, the celebrated TV duos will be using cutting edge DNA technology and genealogy to uncover the truth behind their bloodlines, as well as coming face to face with living relatives they never before knew existed.

The second part of this year's series, going out in the Autumn, brings together more big names - Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb, Joel Dommett and Tom Allen, plus Alison Hammond and Kate Garraway.

ITV Head of Entertainment Commissioning Katie Rawcliffe said: “DNA Journey is an enthralling combination of heart-warming, emotional and high octane all at the same time, and it’s great to welcome some of TV’s favourite faces onto the show to delve deeper into their family histories and secrets.”

ITV Commissioning Editor Louise Major said: “Everyone has a desire to learn more about where they come from and to be able to share this personal experience with some of our favourite faces is so special and a real treat in the mid-week schedule.”

Kathleen Larkin, Executive Producer at Voltage TV, says: "It’s always a treat to see our celebrity pairings as you’ve never seen them before. In this series, they face particularly emotional revelations…which always end with an uplifting resolution that warms the heart."

A spokesperson at Mitre Studios said “The great joy of DNA Journey is that our stars have no idea where their trip is going to take them. It's an absorbing, involving, voyage of discovery with a secret surprise or twist in every turn.”

DNA Journey returns this Autumn on ITV.
