COPS GONE BAD: WILL MELLOR RETURNS WITH NEW SERIES ON CRIME+INVESTIGATION CHANNEL
Will Mellor returns to Crime+Investigation and Crime+Investigation Play to explore seven new high-profile cases of police corruption in Cops Gone Bad. Co-produced by ITN Productions and Krempelwood, the brand new 7x60 series follows on from the success of Cops Who Kill - Crime+Investigation’s top-rated series of 2023.
Starting with the case of David Carrick, who conducted a reign of terror against multiple women whilst enjoying a twenty-year career in the Metropolitan Police, Cops Gone Bad investigates police officers who are killers, fraudsters, swindlers, sexual predators and drug dealers.
Alongside Will, the series features returning experts - retired Detective Chief Inspector Howard Groves and forensic psychologist Serena Simmons. Joining them this series is former Detective Chief Superintendent Sue Hill who has over 30 years’ experience investigating serious crime. In each episode, Will and his team of specialists delve behind the headlines to explore what made those in a position of trust abuse their power so flagrantly and devastatingly.
Will Mellor said, “In this series we’ll be examining cases of corrupt officers from the UK, US and Australia, and whilst the majority of cops do an amazing job every day, it’s important to hold those that don’t to account.”
The cases on which Will lifts the lid in this series are:
David Carrick - the former metropolitan police officer and one of Britain’s worst serial rapists.
Martin Forshaw - a former Cheshire police constable who murdered his fiancée and tried to make it look like a car accident.
Kashif Mahmood - a former Metropolitan police officer who exploited his position to steal hundreds of thousands of pounds from criminal gangs.
Michael Coulton - a police officer assigned to Royal protection duties at Buckingham Palace who hatched an elaborate plan to murder his wife.
Mark Standen - an ex-chief investigative officer at the New South Wales Crime Commission in Australia, who was found guilty of conspiracy to import and deal drugs on a massive scale.
Rodney Whitchelo - a former Metropolitan police officer who contaminated baby and dog food and put it on supermarket shelves as part of a bizarre extortion plot.
Drew Peterson - an American cop who murdered his third wife in her bathroom and tried to make it look like an accident, a fact that only came to light when police started investigating him over the disappearance of his fourth wife.
The series was commissioned, and executive produced by Dan Korn, VP of Programming at A+E Networks EMEA, with Diana Carter, Commissioning Editor and Head of Talent at A+E Networks EMEA. ITN Productions’ Executive Producer was Caroline Short, and Series Producer was Nicola Addyman.
Cops Gone Bad premieres on Crime+Investigation at 9pm on Monday 26th February and will be available to stream on Crime+Investigation Play
