VERA CONFIRMED FOR FURTHER TWO EPISODES ON ITV, BRENDA BLETHYN TO REPRISE ROLE

Starring the internationally acclaimed and award-winning actress Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope, the self-contained crime stories in the new series draw inspiration from the novels and characters created by Ann Cleeves.

Following the conclusion of its latest series, it has been revealed that Vera will return with two brand new episodes, set to enter production this Spring and expected to air later this year or early next year on ITV1.

Earlier this year Blethyn cast doubt on the future of the series in an interview with The Sun. The star said at the time: "At the moment there is nothing planned... There might be a winding up. I don’t know... But a whole series? I think not. We’ll see."

In the latest series, which concluded on Sunday 21st January 2024 on ITV, DCI Vera Stanhope investigates the suspicious death of a market trader, a case of a sickly young girl found in a remote railway siding and the murder of a chip shop co-owner.

Returning cast members such as Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhart, Riley Jones as DC Mark Edwards, Sarah Kameela Impey as pathologist Dr Paula Bennett, and Rhiannon Clements (Ridley, Hollyoaks) as DC Steph Duncan have not been announced.

Previous episodes of Vera are available to stream now on ITVX.
