TRAILBLAZERS ENDS AFTER ONE SERIES ON BBC TWO

The BBC have reportedly called time on its female-led travelogue Trailblazers after one series.

The series was fronted by Ruby Wax, Melanie Brown and Emily Atack. In the first series the trio joined forces to re-trace the footsteps of Isabella Bird, an inspiring female traveller from the 19th century who has often been overshadowed by her male counterparts.

Travelling alone, Isabella Bird crossed the American Wild West, befriending outlaws, climbing mountains, killing rattlesnakes and facing grizzly bears, in what was an often restrictive era for women in Britain.

A source told The Mirror: "BBC bosses had hoped they could create a returning celebrity gang show in the style of Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix on ITV – but it just didn’t work out... There were high hopes for the show but it won’t be coming back."

Trailblazers is available to stream now on BBC Two.
