TOP GEAR: FIRST LOOK IMAGES AND TRAILER AHEAD OF SERIES 32 ON BBC ONE
Top Gear has released first-look images and details from the new trailer for Series 32 of the hit motoring entertainment show featuring some tantalising glimpses of a Florida road-trip, Freddie bobsleighing in a Sinclair C5, and the lads putting their dream TV Cop cars through their paces.
Set to debut on BBC One after Saturday’s FA Cup Final, the advert-style teaser also sees an uncomfortable airport encounter with Customs officials when searches of the presenters luggage reveal a speed gun, a pair of handcuffs and some ‘oily’ boxer shorts - prompting flashbacks to their connection with filming the new series.
Things go from bad to worse however when the humourless Customs officer decides to interrogate the fourth member of the travelling Top Gear team – The Stig!
Highlights from the new series teased, in onscreen order, include:
Swamp buggy racing in Naples, Florida. All three presenters enter the unique event, which sees a field of homebuilt aquatic buggies splashing around a circuit cut through an alligator-infested swamp.
On the road in Florida in Team Top Gear’s RV – the 35-foot-long Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite, complete with 7.4-litre Chevrolet V8 engine.
Donk racing - the presenters go head-to-head on Miami's quarter-mile drag strip in America’s newest official motorsport, where classic American muscle cars are modified to produce up to 2000bhp.
The trio test out some classic TV cop cars (Paddy in Starsky and Hutch’s Ford Gran Torino, Freddie in Magnum PI’s Ferrari 308 GTS and Harris in Inspector Morse’s Jaguar Mark 2), before creating their own telly cop car icons for the 21st century. Paddy ‘Dirty Cobra’ McGuinness sets out to fight crime a Dodge Charger Hellcat muscle car, Chris ‘Dave Tall’ Harris battles the baddies an Audi RS3 hot hatch, and Freddie ‘Preston Ranger’ Flintoff cleans up the streets with a monstrous Ford F150 Raptor pick-up truck.
To celebrate the genius of Sir Clive Sinclair (RIP), Freddie turns a Sinclair C5 into a bobsleigh – christened the Ski5, obviously – and attempts to hit 60mph down Norway’s Lillehammer’s Olympic luge track.
The Dirty 30. The final event of Team Top Gear’s Florida motorsport adventure see them line up in a grid of heavily modified Ford Crown Victoria police cars, all equipped with power-boosting nitrous oxide.
Top Gear returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer soon.
