THE TOURIST: JAMIE DORNAN RETURNS FOR SECOND SERIES OF BBC DRAMA

The BBC have confirmed the returning cast for the second series of BBC drama The Tourist, which aired in early 2022 and became one of the biggest dramas of the year.

Bafta-nominated Jamie Dornan, who also starred in Series 1 as a British man who finds himself in the glowing red heart of the Australian outback, being pursued by a vast tank truck trying to drive him off the road, will return for Series 2.

Alongside Dornan, Danielle Macdonald will reprise her told roles as Helen. The new series will see the pair travel to Ireland one year after their previous adventure in the Australian Outback. The series will commence filming in Dublin, Ireland in April 2023.

A teaser shares: "However, he and Helen find themselves dragged into the dangerous whirlwind of his past life. Whilst Elliot fights with his own demons, Helen is left to pick up the pieces of a larger mystery; forcing them both to confront foes, old and new."

Jamie Dornan said: "I’m incredibly excited to continue the story with The Tourist. Harry and Jack Williams are brilliant writers, and I can’t wait for audiences to see how well Ireland and its characters are utilised to keep them guessing as the tale progresses."

Danielle Macdonald said: "I’m so excited to team up with Jamie again and return for another wild adventure with an amazing cast and crew. Jack and Harry Williams are brilliant storytellers and it’s exciting to see what their minds will come up with next."

In Series 1, an epic cat-and-mouse chase unfolds and the man later wakes in hospital, hurt, but somehow alive. Except he has no idea who he is. With merciless figures from his past pursuing him, The Man’s search for answers propels him through the vast and unforgiving outback.

At its heart however, is a story of self-discovery with a ticking timebomb underneath: as The Man starts to uncover the mystery of who he was, he’s also forced to ask who he is now - and fast. Will he unlock the secrets of his identify before those who are trying to kill him catch up with him?
