THE PRIMROSE RAILWAY CHILDREN: FIRST LOOK AT BBC ADAPTATION OF JACQUELINE WILSON NOVEL
The first images of BBC’s adaptation of The Primrose Railway Children have been released ahead of the special launching on the BBC over the festive period. The 1x90’ feature length film is a modern reimagining of Jacqueline Wilson’s novel inspired by E. Nesbit’s timeless classic.
The new pictures show Kevin McKidd (Grey’s Anatomy, Trainspotting) and Nina Toussaint-White (Bodyguard, Witness 3) as parents Rob and Sarah Robinson, and their three children Ava McCarthy as Phoebe, Ida Brooke as Becks and Tylan Bailey as Perry.
Filmed in and around Glasgow, the dramatic Scottish Highlands and heritage railways, the story follows Phoebe, her older sister Becks, younger brother Perry and their mum who are living a comfortable life in Glasgow when suddenly they are uprooted from their lives and moved to the remote highlands of Scotland.
Bringing to life Jacqueline Wilson’s modern classic, The Primrose Railway Children is an example of the best of homegrown storytelling that brings family audiences together over the festive period. Adapted by Tom Bidwell (The Velveteen Rabbit, The Irregulars), it is a story about growing up, being displaced, and finding your way in a community that seems alien.
Dame Jacqueline Wilson says: “I’m so looking forward to seeing this exciting new adaptation of my book The Primrose Railway Children. It’s going to be a special treat for all the family.”
More details will be announced in due course.
