THE ONE SHOW CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY WITH WEEK OF SPECIAL PROGRAMMING

For 20 years, The One Show has brought the nation together every weekday evening, becoming one of the BBC’s most-loved programmes and home to some of television’s biggest interviews, unforgettable live moments, inspiring stories and exclusive performances.

Hosted by some of the nation’s favourite presenters, led by Alex Jones and Roman Kemp alongside Clara Amfo, Angellica Bell, JB Gill, Vernon Kay and Lauren Laverne, The One Show continues to connect audiences with major announcements, cultural moments and remarkable stories from communities across all four nations.

To mark its milestone anniversary, The One Show will celebrate with a week of special programmes featuring celebrity guests, memorable reunions, surprise moments and stories that have captivated viewers over the last two decades.

Alex and Roman will lead the celebrations from the studio, while familiar faces will be live across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland revisiting some of the programme’s most memorable stories and discovering what happened next. Across entertainment, real-life stories, cultural milestones and extraordinary achievements, the week will shine a spotlight on the people and moments that have defined The One Show. 

The celebrations will feature special live moments from around the UK and beyond, starting at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Ireland’s biggest celebration of traditional music and culture, to the rare sight of a partial solar eclipse sweeping across the country. The celebrations will culminate on Friday 14th August with an extended One Big Night to Remember anniversary special, bringing together some of the biggest names, most memorable stories and greatest moments from 20 years of The One Show.

Every weekday evening at 7pm, The One Show, produced by BBC Studios Entertainment, welcomes some of the biggest names in global entertainment. Over the past two decades, the famous green sofa has hosted everyone from Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Whoopi Goldberg to Taylor Swift, Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks. 

Alongside Hollywood royalty, the programme has championed emerging talent, often introducing audiences to future stars at the start of their journeys. Most recently, The One Show featured Owen Cooper’s first live television interview, where he received acting advice from fellow guest Robert De Niro.

Across 20 years, The One Show has delivered countless memorable moments, from major national events and exclusive interviews to inspiring stories, consumer investigations and community heroes. The programme continues to reflect the people, places and stories that matter most to audiences across the UK.
