THE JETTY: BBC DETECTIVE DRAMA 'SET FOR SECOND SERIES' ON BBC ONE

The BBC are reportedly set to commission a second series of hit detective drama The Jetty, starring Jenna Coleman, according to The Sun newspaper.

In the four-part series, a fire tears through a property in a scenic Lancashire lake town. Detective Ember Manning (Coleman) must work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit relationship between a man in his twenties and two underage girls.

But as Ember gets close to the truth, it threatens to destroy her life – forcing her to re-evaluate everything she thought she knew about her past, present and the town she’s always called home.

As much a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller, The Jetty asks big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory, in the places that Me Too has left behind.

A source told The Sun: "There are several hoops they need to jump through before it gets to the stage where it will definitely happen. Leading lady Jenna, who was also an executive producer on the drama, has recently had a child with partner Jamie Childs and so is likely to be taking a break from work for some time...

"But anyone who watched the first series will also know that continuing the story will be tricky, but not impossible. Even if they made speedy progress, filming would be unlikely to start until late next year with the final series not airing until 2026."

Series 1 of The Jetty is available on BBC iPlayer.
