STARSTRUCK: SHERIDAN SMITH QUITS ITV SINGING CONTEST

Starstruck sees ordinary members of the public with an exceptional talent team up to transform into some of the world’s biggest music icons.

In April, ITV confirmed that it's ordered a second series to air in 2023 on ITV and ITVX (the new streaming platform launching later this year). TV Zone also confirmed that Olly Murs will return to host the second series.

It's now been confirmed that Sheridan Smith will not be returning to the panel for its next series. Sheridan led the panel of judges alongside Adam Lambert, Beverly Knight and Jason Manford.

An ITV spokesperson said (via The Sun): "We would have loved Sheridan to have returned to the show, but she has sadly had to decline due to scheduling conflicts with a new acting project...

"The team loved working with her. She was a fantastic judge and provided some invaluable feedback to the contestants. We wish her all the best."

The format sees four teams of three battle it out each week to win the vote of the expert judging panel and virtual audience for a coveted place in the final and to be in with the chance of winning a whopping £50,000.

Each episode culminates in an exciting finale which sees the winning trio compete against each other for a place in the grand final and the chance to walk away with that life- changing sum of cash.

ITV's Head Of Entertainment, Katie Rawcliffe, said: "Starstruck has been a brilliant addition to our sparkling Saturday night schedule, with its stellar panel, stunning transformations and stand out vocals proving an instant hit amongst audiences."

Exec producer, Cat Lawson, added: “We couldn’t be prouder of this series. Full credit to our incredible host, panel and super talented contestants. We simply cannot wait to uncover more teams of secret superstars and give them the ultimate popstar glow-up.”

Series 1 of Starstruck is available on ITV Hub.
