SQUID GAME CONFIRMED FOR SECOND SERIES ON NETFLIX

The series revolves around a contest where 456 players, who are all in financial debt, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children's games for the chance to win a 45.6 billion prize.

Netflix have now officially confirmed that the show will be returning for a second series.

The recommission comes after series one became Netflix's most popular series ever, with more than 142 million 'member households' during its first four weeks on the platform.

Squid Game creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk said: "It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever...

"As the writer, director and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show...

"And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You'll also be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend, Cheol-su. Join us once more for a while new round."

Hwang also told the Associated Press in 2021: "So there’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!...

"But I will say, there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how it’s going to happen. So I will promise you this… Gi-hun will come back, he’ll do something for the world."

Squid Game is available on Netflix.
