SAS WHO DARES WINS: CIVILIAN VERSION OF CHANNEL 4 FORMAT AXED AFTER EIGHT SERIES
Channel 4 have pulled the plug on the civilian edition of its hugely popular franchise SAS Who Dares Wins after eight series, The Sun have revealed.
The series, which sees a group of men and women from every day life through tests to which the SAS subjects its recruits, to discover if they have the psychological strength required to make the grade.
Every one of the tests in series is taken from genuine Special Forces selection and has been designed to play on the weaknesses that come to the surface when people are pushed to the edge.
A Channel 4 spokesperson confirmed: "Due to the huge success of Celebrity SAS we have shifted our focus to prioritise this strand. A longer, eight-part series is to commence filming in the summer."
A source told The Sun: "Losing such a big-name show is a disturbing sign for C4 as it faces an uncertain future in a market which will be difficult for even the biggest broadcasters and streaming services...
"Although the show’s celebrity spin-off will continue, losing the civilian version will be worrying given that it’s one of the channel’s best-known brands. The fear now is that it may be a sign of things to come."
SAS Who Dares Wins is available to stream now on Channel 4.
