RIPTIDE: DRAMA SERIES AXED BY CHANNEL 5 AFTER ONE SERIES

Riptide, the Channel 5 and Network Ten drama starring Jo Joyner, will not be returning for a second series, the broadcast has confirmed.

Joining Jo was English actor Ciarán Griffiths (Shameless, The Flats) and Australian actors David Berry (Outlander), Peter O’Brien (The Unusual Suspects), Ally Fowler (Wentworth), Pia Miranda (Mustangs FC), rising stars Benny Turland (Neighbours), Asher Yasbincek (The Heights) and Yazeed Dahar (The Hunting), and newcomers Benjamin Samaddar and Sonya Suares.

The Sun reports that it was only ever planned as a one-off series. A source told The Sun: "Bosses were delighted with the reaction from fans to Riptide but it's not something they plan on revisiting."

Filmed in Melbourne, Alison’s life is plunged into despair when her new Australian husband vanishes after a morning surf. Did he get caught in a dangerous riptide – or is there more to his disappearance than meets the eye?

Riptide is available now on My5.
