Random Rewind: Meet The Parents, ITV

Random Rewind: we look back at some the best, and occasionally worst, entertainment shows from the past decade.

Meet The Parents

2016, ITV

Meet The Parents was a primetime ITV dating show with a twist. Each contestant's date was chosen by the people who know them best... their parents.

ITV teased at the time: Meet The Parent's is the brand new dating show hosted by Holly Willoughby which sees young singletons entrust their parents to find them love - what could possibly go wrong?

The show ran for one series of eight episodes in the Autumn of 2016, going against Strictly Come Dancing in the schedules. The series managed to get an overnight audience of over 2m during this period.

It was reported by The Sun soon after the first series that a second series had been commissioned - "The first series of Meet the Parents proved to be a huge hit." - however this never materialised.

Episode 1: The first singleton is Lewis from London, while three hopeful ladies watch and wait as their parents promote or unwittingly sabotage their chances of a date with Lewis. Cue dad dancing, embarrassing childhood tales and flirty mums.
