The Yorkshire Vet: At Home With The Greens | Preview (Channel 5)
This new series celebrates the everyday lives of two of Britain’s oldest working farmers, Steve and Jean Green. At 93 and 72 years old respectively, this couple of rare breeds have always done things the traditional way, but now they’re looking for new ideas to keep their farm afloat, including alpaca walks, running a glamp-site and even opening a luxury cat hotel!
As well as reminiscing about their past, the couple make new memories when they attend a vintage tractor run, visit the races together for the first time, and even get to hand feed a rare Amur tiger!
In this first episode, the Greens reminisce about the sad day when they had to sell their beloved herd of milking cows; Peter Wright treats their calf Plum for a nasty case of ringworm; and Matt Smith visits a much younger North Yorkshire farmer to check on one of his pregnant longhorn cows.
Away from Thirsk, Jean Green visits her old friends Rob and Dave Nicholson at Cannon Hall Farm to discuss how the humble scone saved their family farm – and even finds the time to assist delivering the odd lamb or two!
Back at Stoneybrough Farm, Steve and Jean struggle with their ride-on lawnmower, while Jean and daughter Sarah knock up a batch of scones of their own, but will they pass the Peter Wright taste test?
Featuring Peter Wright and Matt Smith from The Yorkshire Vet and Rob and Dave Nicholson from Cannon Hall Farm.
The Yorkshire Vet: At Home with the Greens begins Tuesday 16th July at 8pm on Channel 5.
