Christmas Cruising With Susan Calman | Preview (Channel 5)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… and this year Susan Calman is on a very special festive mission to meet the big man himself: Santa! This Christmas, Susan is determined to make it all the way to Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland and the official hometown of Father Christmas.

Situated on the edge of the Arctic Circle in Northern Finland, this magical winter wonderland is where Santa and his helpers spend their year preparing for the Big Day. And this year, Susan hopes to meet him and share in the ultimate Christmas experience.

Along the way, Susan will learn what it takes to be one of Santa’s helpers as she trains at the Elf Academy, she’ll help Santa’s postal elves sort the Christmas mail, meet the reindeer and finally take a snowy trip that leads to Santa’s front door.

But getting there won’t be easy, and this time Susan will need to rely on more than just cruise ships. It’s a marathon journey and Susan will be taking whatever route – and transportation - is necessary to ensure she delivers on her Christmas assignment.

She starts in Stockholm, just in time to see the city lit up by the annual display of Christmas lights.

But there’s no time to hang around as she needs to board a ship to Helsinki and then an overnight train – the Santa Claus Express – to Northern Finland. There’ll be ships, trains and maybe even snowmobiles as Susan races through the arctic snow.
